she painted through the wire mesh to create the pattern on the frame.
Sherry came up with a tea light holder (or pencil holder, or vase...) and coaster
She sliced the cork into little disks and punched holes in the center.
I (Yvette) was inspired by my recent etsy wanderings and made this Faerie watching kit which I knew my oldest DD would love
She spent a large part of this afternoon out in the garden hunting for Faeries :o) Included in the kit are a magic stone to help you see the faeries, a pouch to collect faerie wands, dust, wings or anything else you may happen upon and a notebook to record your findings. I carved a mushroom stamp out of the cork to decorate the tin with.
We were fortunate to have 2 guest diva's participate this month. The first one was Kathi's friend Melissa and here is what she came up with
She included the instructions so you can make one yourself:
Get a kid's canvas from Michaels. On the edges use alcohol ink. Then use acrylic paint to fill in center. Use dry brush method to put some paint on alcohol ink on the sides of canvas. Use glitter paint to color in star part of the wand. Attach rhinestones on the edge of star with adhesive. Cut wine cork to make the shape of the wand. Attach with E600. Shape jewelry wire and glue with E600 over cork. Shape wire mesh and attach to canvas with E600. Glue rick rack on to make the shape of ribbon on wand. Drill hole in the bottom of canvas and insert crochet needle for stick. Tie ribbon, chandelier fob, and copper colored disk on stick. Use E600 to glue glass globs to the top of canvas. Cover whole canvas with modge podge to protect it.
If you want to see more of Melissa's art work you can visit her etsy store or her blog
And lastly my sister Monique joined us and came up with this too cute wall decoration.
She has a thing for owls so they are included in much of her work. She also cut up the cork to make the branch for the tree. You can check out more of her creations in her etsy store (though you may have to wait till she gets back to Australia)
I'll post a photo of the new challenge soon and Dana who couldn't make it to the meeting promised to show us her creation soon too.
Happy creating!
